What do I need to know about becoming a demonstrator?

How do I become a Demonstrator?

Becoming a Demonstrator is really simple and only $89.00. Simply go to www.utmcatalogue.ca and click on ?Sign me up!?, the tab in the purple bar at the top of the page. Fill out the form there, and your Introductory Kit will be sent to you! This package includes,

~12 catalogues
~24 Duplicating Customer Order Forms
~12 Duplicating Hostess Party Benefit Forms
~24 eco-chic mama party brochures
~24 baby shower brochures
~12 blank Under the Moon business cards
~example post card invite
~example gift card
~Shaklee membership and basic H cleaning concentrate with 3 spray bottles, 1 in initial Demonstrator Package and remaining 2 get shipped with initial order. (if you are already a Shaklee member, a $15 credit will be applied toward your purchase of kit items)

When you sign on to become a Demonstrator with Under the Moon, you have the opportunity to purchase from our selection of fantastic Kit options. These Kits are incredibly priced to give you a wonderful head start with sample products to display and use as you build your customer base! Kit access is only available to Under the Moon Demonstrators.

Demonstrators have the opportunity each order period to purchase items at 30% off and no shipping, up to the total of their retail subtotal submitted that period. (Anything over the retail subtotal is purchased at 15% off and shipping is charged on this amount.)

There are no sales targets which must be met, or requirements for time periods with Under the Moon. We recognize that we are all busy mothers, and sometimes our focus has to change. For this reason there are no penalties for inactivity and there is no charge to reactivate if you have needed to take time off. We are not a high pressure company.

The only gentle exception to this rule is the Demonstrator Kits. If you purchase from our Kit selection, there is a requirement of retail sales of $1000 in the following 6 months. If sales do not meet this requirement within the given time frame, the Demonstrator will simply be required to pay the remainder cost to bring the amount paid to the retail cost value of the kits purchased.

Each time a Demonstrator reaches a thousand dollar mark, the kits are again available for purchase. Up to 4 kits may be purchased at a time. This is a great way to build your collection at fabulous pricing!

Under the Moon is a fabulous compliment for women who work in Mom&Baby related areas such as Doula work, Pre-Natal Education, Lactation Support. We encourage you to make use of this retail opportunity to help supplement your current occupation, and in turn your Under the Moon contacts can help populate your Mom&Baby support interests. Also, many of our talented Demonstrators have talents such as crocheted hats, taggy blankets, receiving blankets, and countless other items. We welcome you to sell your handmade items alongside your Under the Moon collection.

We think it's a fantastic idea for our Demonstrators to get together in Mom&Baby groups. This is a wonderful way to get social as well as make party connections. Many moms benefit from organized drop-in coffee times, Mothering Matters groups, and Breastfeeding Circles. By sharing our support, experience and wisdom, we are all that much better informed as we continue our mothering journeys.

HOW DOES THE MONEY PART WORK? WHAT DO I EARN AT A PARTY?

1. At the party, the Demonstrator totals each sale. (We will call this amount "A") Shipping, at 7%, is calculated on amount A. Taxes are calculated on A + Shipping, to be paid by the guest placing that order. The demonstrator collects this total amount of A + shipping + taxes from each guest while at the party.
2. After the party, the Demonstrator completes a sale summary online. The Demonstrator will receive an electronic invoice from UTM for the full amount of shipping and taxes collected, and 85% of the total amount of A. (A is your subtotal before shipping and taxes) Thankfully, the website will do all of that math for you! Worry not! This means as the Demonstrator, you leave the party with your profit, cash in hand.

Your profit = 15% (or 20%, see below*) of the total of each order before shipping and taxes

(*) Demonstrator Incentive - If your order totals for one sales period are $2000 or more, you make a bonus 5%, bringing your profit to 20% of sales. You remit only 80% of your total sales, and parties may be bundled. This is a great benefit if you submit a big party, or more than one party together!

We strongly suggest Demonstrators use PayPal to collect payment. This can be done at the party with a laptop, or emails can be taken and invoices sent for the amount owing when the Demonstrator gets home and puts her totals together. This way a guest may conveniently use any credit card or debit directly from their bank account. Cash is fine, and personal cheques are up to the discretion of the Demonstrator, and made directly to the Demonstrator. We encourage Demonstrators to cash all personal cheques, and receive all PayPal payments before placing their orders with UTM.

DEMONSTRATOR BENEFIT PURCHASES


Each Order Period, Demonstrators may purchase the equivalent of their retail sales subtotal with a 30% discount. This purchase must be made at the time the retail order is placed. It may be any amount up to the retail subtotal for the 30% discount eligibility. (Any amount over the retail subtotal is discounted at 15%.) There is no shipping on this benefit, adding to the value. Only taxes are charged on the subtotal.

HOW AND WHEN ARE ORDERS PLACED?
Orders are placed on odd numbered Sundays by the end of the night. (ok, maybe even very late at night, but they must be received before 9am on the Monday morning.) These orders can be placed online. If you are having a computer glitch emergency, orders may be phoned in. Orders will not be processed until payment has been received by UTM.

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY ORDER?
Orders to UTM may be paid by PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Money Order, or cheque. Please note, orders will not be processed until cheque has cleared. At Under the Moon, our preference for payment is PayPal.

WHAT IS THE SCOOP ON SHIPPING?
Shipping is 7% of the total sale. There is no discount for bulk shipping. Orders are shipped to the Demonstrator for product verification. Demonstrators will make arrangements with her hostess as to how the order will then be delivered to guests. This part is flexible and up to you. Please note: On orders less than $200.00, there is a $20.00 flat rate shipping fee. (shipping may be subject to change if rates change)

HOW LONG BEFORE I RECEIVE MY ORDER?
The maximum turn-around time will be 4 weeks, from the time the order is placed until the time the order is received. It is our goal that this will be completed in less, we aim for 3 week turn-around. (If you are lucky, it may be quicker) There are some exceptions.
1. If an item is back ordered from our supplier you will be notified. Your order will ship, and the back order item will follow as soon as it is in stock.
2. The toys from Germany and Bangladesh normally come within this time frame, however, every so often there is a delay as they must pass customs twice.

We recognize no one wants to wait for their product, but in order to offer the selection that Under the Moon carries, it takes some time to have everything available. Our shipping time is a priority to us, our unique line of items makes it worth the little bit of extra time.

CAN I PLACE AN ORDER WITHOUT HAVING A PARTY?
Absolutely! It is wonderful when you get repeat customers, or impulse orders. This can happen for many reasons.

1. You get someone using a fabulous product that gets used up. Bum butter, Herbals, Skin Care,etc.
2. They love your stuff so much, when they need to purchase a unique gift for someone, they give you a call and place that gift order through you.
3. Someone wants something specific, but has spent enough already at their party. They call you later to order it separately.
This scenario leaves you with options. You may choose to ...

1. Add the bits and bites to an existing order to bump it up, giving you a higher discount item price and/or more Under the Moon Bonus Bucks for that Party. That hostess will LOVE you.
2. Place the bits and bites order all together, and put YOURSELF as the hostess, purchase your own product with the discount items and use the UTM Bonus Bucks to add to either your own stash of stuff, or for freebies and give aways. Go for it! Call around before placing your order, keep track of people who love some of your use-up-ables. This is a fabulous way to really make the most of the benefits.

CAN I HAVE STOCK ON HAND FOR PARTY SALES?
Absolutely!
You have options, there are a few different ways you may accumulate stock on hand for selling. (And a few ways you may add to your profit margin!)

1. Demonstrators may always buy unlimited items from the catalogue at 15% off, either in independent orders, or added to your party orders. (20% off when total sales for the selling period are over $2000)
You simply order them and submit the normal 85% of your total, with taxes and shipping on the regular retail amount.
2. As mentioned above ... Demonstrators may place orders that are a combination of several independent orders, and place themselves as the "hostess" and then use the discount item option and the UTM bonus bucks to purchase whatever items you choose.
~ A strategic demonstrator could then sell these items at Under the Moon Parties that she Demonstrates as impulse buys, and make the added profit on them, selling them at full retail cost.
OR you may choose to do a little raffle game, or draw for an item to help cover your initial cost.
OR you may offer one of these items as incentive to someone who books a subsequent party.
OR you may offer one of these items as incentive to hit a target sales amount for a hostess.
Truly, the list is endless, we welcome your ideas and creativity as to how this can benefit you.

THERE IS ANOTHER DEMONSTRATOR BENEFIT!
Each month Under the Moon will highlight a product. This product will be available at a Demonstrator Deal price. This is an opportunity, IF YOU WISH, to purchase at a fabulous discount in order to stock your own supplies for use at parties, impulse buys, raffles, games, door prizes, etc. It's wide open. All we ask is that you don't use these items for sale outside of Under the Moon.
~Demonstrators found selling these items at other venues such as Ebay, Kijiji, or other Web Sales or Bricks and Mortar Stores will cease to be registered Demonstrators with Under the Moon.

HOW DO I GET OUT THERE AND LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT UTM??

- 2 variations Momma & Shower brochures, geared to your Customers.

Post Card Invites - A great reason to meet with your hostess, prior to the shower. Sit down and go over her list of guests. Help her be sure and maximize her attendance. Give her post cards to send out to invite people. The post cards are a great tool to let people know the nature of the shower, they also give the website so that guests can view the catalogue online prior to the party, wet their whistle ;)

UTM Mini Ad - These are great to leave places where your prime clientele will frequent. They have a place for you to put a sticker or stamp with your contact information. These colourful, double sided ads are an eye catching way to garner new hostesses.

Shaklee membership means you will get a catalogue mailed out to you. It also means if you decide you want to try any of their products, you will purchase at the member price. There is NO OBLIGATION. EVER. And there is no additional charge, and no pressure. You don't have to DO anything.

SO WHY BOTHER?
We are making a point to introduce each and every demonstrator to Shaklee because we believe that our children deserve to grow up in an environment that has been sustained. We feel that Shaklee gives the average family easy and inexpensive options to make smarter, greener, healthier choices. There is one product in particular that we would really LOVE for you to try. We invite you to check it out, see what you think. The laundry detergent is our favourite green laundry clean because it actually works, and works well. (Even on sparkly lip gloss that your daughter forgot was in the pocket of her jeans that just got washed ... again, experience) It is wonderful for diapers and the family laundry too.
